Cattedrale di Santa Maria della Neve

The Cathedral of Santa Maria della Neve (Saint Mary of the Snow) is the main Catholic place of worship and seat of the Diocese of Nuoro. Dedicated to Santa Maria della Neve, the patron saint of the city, it stands in the square that bears her name.

The foundation stone was laid on November 12, 1836, but construction was delayed by various setbacks and was only completed nearly twenty years later.

The cathedral was solemnly consecrated on July 3, 1873 by Bishop Salvatore Angelo Demartis.

The church features a striking neoclassical facade, with Corinthian columns and a large portico. Inside, the cathedral is divided into three naves, adorned with frescoes and artworks that reflect the religious history and cultural heritage of the region.
