Chiesa di Nostra Signora delle Grazie
Via Alberto Lamarmora, 1 Nuoro
The New Church of Our Lady of Grace (Nuova Chiesa delle Grazie) is a site of great religious and cultural importance, an example of spirituality and architecture that blends harmoniously with the urban landscape of the city.
When the Old Sanctuary of Our Lady of Grace became too small to serve the growing population, the Josephite Fathers, who took over its care and liturgical functions in 1940, decided as early as 1942 to build a new sanctuary.
The new church was constructed between Corso Garibaldi and via Lamarmora, just a short distance from the original one.
The foundation stone was laid on March 2, 1947, and after nearly a decade of work, the sanctuary was inaugurated on December 8, 1956, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
The building stands out for its innovative design and the use of local materials. Its architecture combines traditional elements with contemporary lines, creating a welcoming and light-filled space. The facade features large windows that allow natural light to pour into the interior, enriching the spiritual atmosphere.
In addition to its liturgical role, the church also provides spaces for social and cultural activities, making it a true community hub.
The New Church of Our Lady of Grace is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of renewal and innovation for the city. Every year, it welcomes numerous visitors and faithful, eager to deepen their spiritual journey and explore the religious culture of the region.
